1 # This file documents the revision history for Perl extension Catalyst.
4 - Fix the debug page so that it works as expected with the latest
7 - The Catalyst::Utils::home function is used to find if the application
8 is a checkout in Catalyst::ScriptRunner. This means that a non-existant
9 lib directory that is relative to the script install location is not
10 included when not running from a checkout.
12 - Fix dead links to cpansearch.perl.org to point to metacpan.org.
14 - Require the latest version of B::Hooks::EndOfScope (0.10) to avoid an
15 issue where new versions of Module::Runtime (0.012) cause %^H to be
16 localised, which makes the scope end hook fire (and so clean things)
17 before the end of compile time. This causes Catalyst::Controller to
18 not compile as expected, and therefore breaks installs and applications.

24 New features and refactoring:
25 - Much of the Catalyst::Engine code has been moved into Catalyst::Request
26 and Catalyst::Response, to be able to better support asynchronous web
27 servers such as Twiggy, by making the application engine more reenterant.
29 This change is as a prequel to full asynchronous support inside Catalyst
30 for AnyEvent and IO::Async backends, which allow highly scaleable streaming
31 (for applications such as multi-part XML HTTPRequests, and Websockets).
34 - This means that the $c->engine->env method to access the PSGI environment
35 is now deprecated. The accessor for the PSGI env is now on Catalyst::Request
36 as per applications which were using Catalyst::Engine::PSGI
38 Catalyst::Engine::PSGI is now considered fully deprecated.
40 - The private _dump method in Catalyst::Log is now deprecated. The dumper is
41 not pluggable and which dumper to use should be a user choice. Using
42 an imported Dump() or Dumper() function is less typing than $c->log->_dump
43 and as this method is unused anywhere else in Catalyst, it has been scheduled
44 for removal as a cleanup. Calling this method will now emit a stack trace
45 on first call (but not on subsequent calls).
47 Back compatibility fixes:
48 - Applications still using Catalyst::Engine::PSGI as they rely on
49 $c->request->env - this is now the provided (and recommended) way of
50 accessing the raw PSGI environment.
